Dr. Latonya B. Gregory

President & Certified Mentor

Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I have 17 years of teaching and learning experience in SC public schools and I am very passionate and enthusiastic about my work with students and their families. I am married to an amazing man and we share two bright children. Family is very important to me as my family helped me to have a well-balanced life.

I was raised by my grandfather. My grandfather was a giving and caring man, he taught me the essence of being fair and treating others how I want to be treated. I am very determined and I chased after my dreams to improve my circumstances, which I never allowed to stop me. In spite of all the bad things, I never gave in!

I attended South Carolina State University and The Citadel to gain the skills I needed to become an educator and teacher leader. As a lifelong learner, I earned my Education Specialist and Doctor of Education degrees. Earning the highest degree an educator can obtain, and with my background, which predetermined that I was destined to fail, but I didn’t. I am sharing my story so that I can inspire others to do the same.

I enjoy teaching math so much, that I started a math tutoring business to teach math to students in grades 3rd to 5th in a concrete, practical approach for learning math.

I began BGregory Giving Nonprofit, to pay it forward for teens living in poverty. We will impact their lives by showing them what they can be.

Vice President & Certified Mentor

A Charleston, SC native, I have been a certified teacher since 2007. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences from South Carolina State University and my Master's Degree in School Guidance & Counseling from The Citadel.

As a School Guidance Counselor, I prepare students for a successful future, personally and professionally by steering them on the road to academic success by evaluating and implementing a plan to best fit each student’s needs and goals. In addition to academic excellence, I prepare students to be career ready by helping them gain the desired skills and competencies. For the students who are uncertain about which career field they want to enter into, I guide them towards their interests, strengths and talents by self-reflection and aptitude testing. Playing an active role in preparing students for their future after high school whether its college, the work force or military is exceptionally rewarding.

As a veteran, having served in both the Army and Air Force as a Commissioned Officer, I've gained lifelong skills of leadership, discipline, teamwork, determination, perseverance and resiliency to name a few. For those who are interested or curious about the military, I share my expertise of military life, careers and benefits.

Over the years, I have become aware of the importance of self- sufficiency through entrepreneurship. Having obtained a skilled trade as a licensed nail technician, I work in the service/beauty industry and love providing skin/nail health and beautification services to clients.

With my broad-ranging background I enjoy passing along the knowledge, experiences, and information I've obtained along the way to help others gain success.

A native of Charleston. Mother of two vibrant and energetic boys, 10 and 11. A graduate from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2002. Currently, I am employed with Roper St. Francis Healthcare where I assist with recruiting and developing of new hires for the orthopedic department. Working with the general public is similar to counseling. When you are called, customers want you to solve their problems at all costs.  I have been in this role for three years and previously was employed with Molina Healthcare as a Member and Provider Service Specialist. I have over 15 plus years of customer service and call center experience.

I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. The mental and emotional health of an individual affects the well-being and quality of life that person will live over the course of their life. It is an area that needs more focus and research and I welcome the challenge.
